Taste the Caribbean Turkey Burger

Instructions

1. Place the ground turkey into a large mixing bowl and set aside.
2. Mince the garlic and chop the scallions. Add the garlic, scallions, salt, onion powder, cayenne, and mustard into the bowl with the ground turkey and massage the seasonings into the ground meat.
3. Then, crack the egg into the bowl with the ground meat (discard the shells). Add in the Panko breadcrumbs and give it a few stirs until the egg and breadcrumbs are fully incorporated into the mixture.
4. Heat the grill to 400 degrees. Spray the grill liberally with cooking spray(feel free to use a grilling mat if you have one, but it is not required). While the grill is heating up, separate the ground beef into four equal parts and mold each part into a patty so that you are left with four burger patties ready to be grilled.
5. Once the grill has reached 400 degrees, place the patties onto the grill and grill for about 4 minutes per side or until the burgers have reached an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit. While the patties are grilling, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the upper rack of the grill.
6. Before removing the burgers from the grill, brush the top of each patty with jerk seasoning and then place a slice of Pepper Jack cheese on each patty and allow the cheese to melt.
7. Remove the burgers and buns from the grill. Place a leaf of lettuce on the bottom slice of each burger bun. Place a patty on top of each leaf of lettuce and set them aside.
8. Dice the mango, pineapple, red onion, and mini sweet peppers and then place them in a bowl, squeeze the juice of the lime over the ingredients and stir.
9. Top each patty a tablespoon of the tropical salsa and a drizzle of Jerk BBQ sauce (if desired). Place the top of the bun on each burger.
10. Plate, serve and enjoy.
